020.5:MMM is Michael's latest pick for 000, on Apple Music. Nineteen tracks, an hour and thirty-seven minutes: it opens with The Invisible Session, the Schema Records project built around label co-founder Luciano Cantone with Paolo Fedreghini and Marco Bianchi, spiritual jazz played by a band rather than assembled from samples, then runs through Gerardo Frisina's latin percussion and The Maghreban into two guitar records half a century apart, The Action's shelved 1967-68 demos and Lil Yachty's 2023 psych-rock, through Cajmere, Session Victim, Pearson Sound and Ability II's ten-minute acid centrepiece, back through Fedreghini and Bianchi's own vocal, Chaos In The CBD and DJ City, and closes through Maverick Sabre into Yargo, the Manchester band who spent the late eighties mixing soul with dub.

In Michael's own words: "It opens acoustic and closes in dub. In between: two guitar records half a century apart, ten minutes of acid at the centre, and no attempt to keep the decades apart. Play it in order, or it is just a folder."
